COVID 19: IAITAM, ITAD, NAID, ITEX Spring 2020 Update
Posted in Blog
It’s not just businesses that are in limbo, the spring 2020 conference circuit for the data destruction industry is in a state of upheaval due to the impacts of the coronavirus disease (COVID-19). Based on federal and state guidelines, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and World Health Organization (WHO) recommendations, each trade show’s governing organization has assessed and modified key industry events to preserve the health, safety, and well-being of attendees, exhibitors, speakers, and staff.
The events listed below, critical to the entire data destruction industry, are in flux. In the meantime, Guardian is working on ways to support our partners and community as we all grapple with business and risk impact of the coronavirus situation. Please reach out to us for more information on data security – considered an essential service — or let’s set up an in-person meeting at the rescheduled event date.
At past trade shows, Guardian Data Destruction has auctioned off “artwork” created from IT pieces and parts to benefit charities such as the Wounded Warrior Project. For 2020, we are planning to create an online art auction with proceeds to benefit Hackensack Medical Center, an epicenter of the New Jersey COVID-19 crisis. And, we’ve pledged to match all final auction bids to double our commitment to the community. Let us know if you’d like to be notified once the auction has been set up.
IAITAM ACE Spring 2020 – now VIRTUAL
Rescheduled for Sept 9-11
The IAITAM Annual Conference and Exhibition (ACE) is the world’s leading IT Asset Management conference. At ACE, IT, financial, and legal professionals come together to explore the latest in IAITAM and its impact on business operations, compliance, and profitability.
As an IAITAM exhibitor, Guardian Data Destruction meets a mix of asset manager attendees and VARS. Our focus is on education about end-of-life data destruction and onsite service (site and data center decommissioning, erasures, tape destructions, hard drive destruction, 2mm shred for solid state drives). We also network with our existing VARS to help them deliver recycling and remarketing services to their asset management customers.

Guardian’s conference objective mirrors the ITEX mission: provide the practical education of the most modern industry solutions for any IT and electronic office equipment end-of-life planning. Ranging from copiers, printers, monitors to complete data center decommissioning, Guardian will showcase secure solutions for recycling and remarketing for US and Canada-based companies once the show is rescheduled.

Exploring the rapidly changing trends and technologies that are driving transformation in the ITAD industry, the Summit is an international learning and networking conference.
Guardian’s focus for ITAD is consistent year after year: develop and strengthen relationships with our overseas partners – service providers, VARS and ITAD companies. We’re interested in exchanging business solutions, market analysis and forward-thinking trends. In September, we will be introducing our new “Lift and shift” service for complete decommissioning of large data centers and understanding the worldwide impact of COVID-19 on the ITAD industry.
2020 NAID & PRISM International Conference & Expo – Orlando, FL

After monitoring the evolving Coronavirus (COVID-19) situation, the i-SIGMA Board of Directors has cancelled the 2020 NAID & PRISM International Conference & Expo. The electronic election of the 2020 i-SIGMA Board of Directors will go forward as planned.
Glenn Laga, Guardian’s CEO and Founder and NAID Board of Director, voted to cancel the 2020 NAID Conference in the interest of protecting the health of organizers and attendees. He’s winding down his third directorship term for NAID just as the Prism and NAID Boards consolidate under the i-SIGMA umbrella. Glenn is looking forward to meeting the new board in person at the i-SIGMA Annual Conference in Las Vegas (March 17-21, 2021).
Throughout the year, Guardian will continue to create and share educational content to our partners and NAID associates that follow NAID certification standards and incorporate new procedures as determined by COVID-19 best practices.
To understand the value that NAID provides, read this Q&A with John Shegerian, Executive Chairman of ECS — one of the largest IT recyclers in the world, who presented at the “What Information is Really on Old Devices & Why it Matters” session at NAID 2018.
